TGP2 ~ Down 'n' Dirty How-To

From time to time there is renewed curiosity in the TGP2 concept and business model. Perhaps one of the biggest misconceptions of TGP2 is what it is and how you do it.

A brief synopsis of what TGP2 is: in essence it is a an ad for a paysite featuring 5 pics, banners, and a bunch of keyword-rich sales text. We call them galleries, but it is not to be confused with the standard TGP gallery, which is mostly pictures and is much lighter on the advertising. TGP2 galleries have two purposes: to attract search engine traffic (ultimately) and to sell the surfer more completely, resulting in lower ratios. The spirit behind TGP2 is to tease the surfer just enough to make him click.

OK, now that you have the general idea behind the TGP2 movement, how do you do it if it is different from standard TGP? I'm glad you asked...Here is an overview of everything you would need to get started in TGP2 and see some success.

1.) TGP2 has adopted the standard of 5 pics, and only 5 pics for photo thumb galleries. No more, no other unlinked thumbs, just five thumbs leading to big pics. If you are doing movies, then the standard is 1 or 2 clips, but never more than 2 clips. We're not giving away the farm here, just enough to pique a surfer's interest.

2.) TGP2 is much more relaxed on the number of links allowed, as long as no one goes overboard. Granted, that is a judgement call, but what I usually do is one or two text links to the sponsor, a banner linked to the sponsor, a link to a "landing page" (which can also be a FPA), and one little "copyright by" link at the very bottom of the page. Of these, ONLY the "copyright by" link can go to another TGP2 site or list of galleries, and it must be small. Landing pages can go to a list of paysites with special deals, or an FPA in the same/similar niche, or it can go to a "hub" page with links to other sites, but it cannot list other galleries. Links of this nature can be semi-blind, like "Click here for great porn deals."

3.) TGP2 allows your big pics to be on HTML! In fact it is encouraged, especially nowadays with image search on all the major search engines. Another thing that is encouraged is linking that big pic to the paysite sponsor. And on this page you can put a banner linked to the sponsor, and one text link to either the sponsor or a landing page, plus once again that little "copyright by" link. Just remember to keep the "copyright" link small...now add up all those links with the main gallery page, plus five big pic pages. On a conservative gallery, that will be 2 sponsor links on the main page, plus 10 more links to the sponsor on the big pic pages (remember the big pic can also be linked to the sponsor), plus 6 links to a landing page (main + big pics), plus 6 "copyright" links to another site. That's 24 links over 6 pages!

4.) Text, text, text! Put keyword and keyphrase rich sales text on your main gallery page, and a bit more teasing short phrases on the big pic pages. Nice sales text helps conversions, and it really helps with SEO.

5.) Which brings us to the #1 advantage of TGP2...SEO value! Yup, it is very clear to anyone who tries TGP2 that the spiders just love TGP2 galleries that much more than standard TGP galleries. And why not? We have what the spiders see as a small site, instead of just a page. There are all these focused, relevant links on each page, and if you include alt and title tags on every image and link, and write a smokin' sexy sales text for it with hot teasing short text links for the big pic pages, what is there for a spider not to like? TGP2 done right has all of this spider bait.

6.) Leave your TGP2 galleries up FOREVER. Tuck them into second and third level folders of whatever domain you will keep going for years. One reason is the TGP2 Pool, a database of clean, non-recip TGP2 galleries that stores them for as long as they are still good and working. Plus, many of the TGP2 sites run archives, which also stay up forever. Besides, why would anyone want to take down perfectly good spider bait? Make your TGP2 galleries permanent.

7.) Speaking of clean, non-recip galleries, that is actually the most common form in TGP2. That's right, there aren't very many recips to worry about, as most sites prefer the clean version. Some do ask or require recips for various reasons, but the majority don't. Besides, the LinksRotator doesn't use recips.

8.) LinksRotator? What is that? Another nice little feature in the TGP2 community. Remember the TGP2 pool? That nifty database of clean, working niche specific TGP2 galleries that saves them for as long as they work? Well, once a TGP2 gallery is approved in the Pool, it also goes into the LinksRotator, a gallery rotating service program that all the TGP2 sites use, plus some hybrid sites also. Both the Pool and the LinksRotator have a large number of specific niche categories, and galleries are called by category, so if a surfer gets your gallery, it is the kind he wants to look at.

9.) OK, I hate to have to say this, but: Never, EVER, try to cheat in the TGP2 community. EVER. We all talk to each other, compare notes, chat every week, and if you try to cheat even just one TGP2 webmaster, everyone will end up knowing about it. If you're reading this here, chances are you wouldn't think of doing that, but there have been a very few who have tried.
